The BOE Wants You!!

I would like to encourage you to take a few minutes during your summer vacation to consider running for the Board of Education. Although the election is on November 7, 2017, the deadline to submit a nominating petition to the county clerk is coming up: July 31 by 4 p.m.

As Superintendent I work closely with the dedicated members of our Board of Education, and every day I am overwhelmed by how much they do for our district and the community. I have also served my own local school district as a Board member and Board of Education President. I have been proud to serve my township, and be instrumental in making decisions that have made an impact on not only my daughters’ educations, but for my district’s students past and future. While there is time and personal commitment involved, I recommend it as one of the most rewarding experiences and meaningful contributions you can make to our students and the community.

There are three open seats on Millburn’s 9-member Board of Education. In the coming years, Board members will be involved with overseeing the referendum-funded construction projects, launching innovations in building space and curricula to make our schools and students future-ready. We are looking for a few good men and women focused on moving our school district forward and educating all students. Please join us! To learn more about running for the Board of Education, download the New Jersey School Boards’ Association Candidate Information Kit and submit your petition by July 31.

Support the new Washington School – Golf & Tennis Open Fundraiser -- July 24

You are invited to the inaugural Golf and Tennis Open Fundraiser at Maplewood Country Club to help the Washington School PTO’s efforts to fund inspiring programming for this new school. Join your friends and neighbors at this fun event, where you can play golf, tennis, or hang at the evening party by the pool.  This is an adult-only event. All community members are welcome!

Work is progressing on Washington School – I know it may not look too different from the outside, but the roof is complete, classrooms are being painted, offices constructed, and a new temporary Washington School sign makes it official!

I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful summer! Watch for more updates next week.
