TAPinto Gets New Look, Sets All-time Readership Record

SHORT HILLS, NJ - TAPinto.net today revealed a new site design and announced that, in May, it exceeded its all-time readership numbers for one month, registering more than 639,000 readers and 1.6 million pageviews.

TAPinto's redesign includes more user-friendly navigation, more white space and a sleeker and more refined look, Chief Executive Officer Michael Shapiro said.

During the past year, more than 4.6 million readers used TAPinto to get local news and information.  In May 2016, 639,508 readers visited the site, compared to 360,178 in May 2015, an increase of 77.55 percent.  Pages viewed increased from 918,871 in May 2015 to 1,635,953 in May 2016, Shapiro said.

Founded in 2008 by Shapiro and his wife Lauryn, who live in New Providence, TAPinto is now a network of more than 50 online local news sites in New Jersey and New York.  Each TAPinto news site is locally owned and operated and provides original local news coverage, as well as event listings and much more.  Readers can also receive their local news FREE via email at www.tapinto.net/enews

"Our readership has grown more than 75 percent year over year and with our redesign, we expect our readership numbers to increase from here," Shapiro said.  "Our 4.6 million readers during the last year demonstrate that our franchising of local news sites to local owner/publishers is working and is being well-received by residents of our towns."

In the past 12 months, more than 20 new TAPinto local news sites have launched.
