Established in 1906, the Short Hills Garden Club is one of America’s oldest clubs dedicated to the promotion of horticultural and environmental education. The club works to promote knowledge and appreciation of horticulture and the conservation of our natural resources; to stimulate an interest in public plantings in the Millburn/Short Hills area and to help maintain them; to keep its members informed on governmental matters which concern our natural resources; and to support the purpose of The Garden Club of America.
Past civic projects have included the planting of 700 daffodil bulbs in three community projects, tree plantings in Old Short Hills Park and reintroducing native plants at the South Mountain Reservation. The garden club also supports The Greater Newark Conservancy as well as hands-on education at the Clinton Avenue School.
