MILLBURN, NJ - Three new firefighters are now part of the Millburn Fire Department, having been sworn in at Tuesday night's township committee meeting.

Anthony Tarrant, Joesph Mohler and Jonathan Rodriguez were all appointed by the committee after being approved as part of resolution 19-243. The resolution stemmed from the department's need for additional officers, and as the resolution noted, all three firefighters met the criteria and went through the selection process.

Tarrant served in the United States Navy for four years after graduating from Nutley High School. While deployed, he served in the Mediterranean Sea and the Gulf of Oman.

Mohler was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas and served eight years in the United States Army, being deployed to Afghanistan, Oahu and Fort Drum in New York. For his service he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Rodriguez was born in Newark, and after graduating form Belleville High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps. Rodriguez spent a tour of duty in Iraq, as awell as helping relief eforts in Haiti during the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake.

All three firefighters will hold probationary status, and will be assigned to the Newark Fire Academy for the next three months.
