Traffic Stops Lead to Summons for Cocaine and Marijuana

On January 24, 2017 Millburn Police Officer Aliotta responded to the Polo Ralph Lauren store at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report. Polo personnel report a black male wearing a green hat, red jacket, and blue pants concealed a jacket valued at $519.00 in a shopping bag and left the store without making payment. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On January 25, 2017 Millburn Police Officer Marone responded to the Millburn Car Wash on East Willow St on a theft report. Millburn Car Wash personnel report between 5:00 pm on January 21, 2017 and 8:00 am on January 25, 2017 unknown actor/s cut the locks on the 2 coin operated vacuums and took $100.00 in quarters. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On January 25, 2017 Millburn Police Officer Salemi stopped a 2001 Ford Excursion at Millburn/Vauxhall for tinted windows. The investigation led to the arrest of 25 year old Ibin Patterson out of West Orange for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana). Mr. Patterson was issued a summons and released.

On January 25, 2017 Millburn Police Officer Royce stopped a 2002 Mazda Tribute on Hobart Gap/Rt 124 for an inoperable headlight. The investigation led to the arrest of the 35 year old driver Amanda Paul out of Newark on an outstanding traffic warrant. Ms. Paul was issued summonses for maintenance of lamps and driving with a suspended license before being released with a new court date.

On January 26, 2017 Millburn Police Officer Royce stopped a 2001 Oldsmobile on Rt 24 west near the mall for not having a front plate. The investigation led to the arrest of the 46 year old driver Joseph Salerno out of Florham Park for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (cocaine) and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Salerno was issued a summons and released.

On January 26, 2017 Millburn Police Officer Aliotta responded to the Apple store at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report. Apple personnel report 43 year old Michael Wallace out of Hackensack put a pair of headphones on valued at $300.00 and left the store without making payment. Mr. Wallace was accompanied by 33 year old Latoya Wright out of Mount Vernon who additionally took items from Foot Locker and Sunglass Hut. Mr. Wallace and Ms. Wright were charged with shoplifting and receiving stolen property. Mr. Wallace was remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility. Ms. Wright was released with a summons.

On January 26, 2017 Millburn Police Officer Crawn responded to the Polo Ralph Lauren store at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report. Polo personnel report a black male wearing a grey sweatshirt concealed 5 clothing items valued at $438.00 in a bag and left the store without making payment. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On January 27, 2017 Millburn Police Officer Salemi stopped a 1998 Chevy Lumina on Rt 24 West near the mall for speeding. The investigation led to the arrest of the 21 year old driver Eshonne Mitchell out of Newark for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana). Mr. Mitchell was issued a summons and released.

On January 27, 2017 Millburn Police Officer Recinos responded to the Edison Police Department on a warrant arrest. Joshua Kelly, age 25 out of Newark, was placed under arrest on an outstanding Millburn criminal warrant and remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility.

On January 28, 2017 Millburn Police Officer Laverty responded to Nordstroms on a forgery report. Nordstroms personnel report 14 counterfeit $100.00 bills were passed in the store on January 22, 2017 during 2 separate transactions. The incidents are under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On January 28, 2017 Millburn Police Officer Lipke was flagged down by 66 year old Michael Conwell out of East Orange on South Orange Ave. Mr. Conwell was asking for directions and seemed disoriented. Officer Lipke checked to see if Mr. Conwell was a missing person and was found to have 2 outstanding criminal warrants out of Newark. Mr. Conwell was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters. Mr. Conwell was released with a new court date.

On January 28, 2017 Millburn Police Office Shanahan responded to the teal deck at The Mall at Short Hills on a suspicious persons report. The caller reported individuals in the lot were looking into vehicles windows. The investigation led to the arrest of 22 year old Saturn Michel out of Orange for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) and 2 outstanding criminal warrants. Lyle Copeland, age 21 out of Orange, was also placed under arrest for an outstanding criminal warrant out of Orange, a warrant from the Essex County Sheriffs Department, and unsworn falsification. Mr. Michel and Copeland were remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility.

On January 30, 2017 Millburn Police Officer Laverty responded to High Gear Cyclery on Main St on a theft report. High Gear personnel report between January 28th and January 30th unknown actor/s took 2 bicycles valued at $15,820.00 from the store.  The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On January 30, 2017 Millburn Police Officer Manuyag responded to Benihana’s on a theft report. A patron reports accidentally leaving her purse on her chair and leaving the restaurant. The patron returned a short time later and could not locate her purse. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
