CRANFORD - At 2:09 p.m., police were called to the Citgo gas station at the corner of North Avenue and Orchard Street after a box truck got wedged underneath the overhead canopy.

The driver, a 33-year old female, pulled into the station to get gas and misjudged the height of the canopy, which is 11-feet. There were no injuries, and the driver was issued a summons for careless driving.

Civilians in the area gathered to photograph the accident. A driver was stopped by an officer on scene for using his phone to photograph the crash while turning onto Orchard Street. It is believed the driver was let off with a warning for distracted driving.
