NEWARK, NJ - Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose have announced that authorities are investigating an incident in which two males were fatally shot in Newark, NJ on Sunday, October 8. At approximately 5:30 p.m., Newark police officers responded to the 400 block of Irvine Turner Boulevard on reports of shots fired. Arriving officers observed two males within a vehicle at his location. both males were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and they were subsequently pronounced dead a short time later, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly of the Prosecutor's Homicide Unit. The victims have been identified as Stefan Tinsley, age 33, of East Orange, NJ and Yasin Calloway, age 26 of Newark.
This incident is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department. The investigation is active and ongoing at this time, according to Fennelly.
