MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Additional information about the dead man found on Wyoming Avenue near the intersection with Hickory Drive at around 4 a.m.on Memorial Day, May 30, has been released from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
The death is being investigated as a homicide, according to Carolyn A. Murray, acting Essex County prosecutor, and Maplewood Police Chief Robert Cimino, and the release states that the man "appears to have been struck by a motor vehicle."
The release from Murray and Cimino also states that it is "unclear what links, if any, the victim has to Maplewood."
The name of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin, according to the release.
The driver of the vehicle has not yet been identified, and at this time, the investigation is active and ongoing. The investigation is being handled by the Maplewood Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force.
