Vehicle Burglaries Continue in Millburn Township; Several Arrests for Possession of Illegal Drugs

On September 12, 2016 Millburn Police Lieutenant Ronceray noticed a 2007 Dodge Caliber parked on Brookside Drive in the South Mountain Reservation at 11:54 pm. Lieutenant Ronceray initiated a stop for the curfew violation. The investigation led to the arrest of 28 year old Seroy Calnick out of East Orange, and 26 year old Kirstie Weatherhead out of Orange for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana), possession of a controlled dangerous substance (oxycodone), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Calnick and Ms Weatherhead were released with a summons.

On September 13, 2016 Millburn Police responded to reports of burglaries to motor vehicles located on Exeter Road, Deerfield Road, Gap View Road, East Beechcroft Road, and Municipal lot 2 (parking deck). The vehicles that were entered were: 2003 Honda Accord, 2016 Acura RBX, 2006 Mercedes Benz, 2016 Mazda, 2016 Jeep Wrangler, and a 2015 Lexus LX. The proceeds were loose change, a garage door opener, a black bag, and sneakers. The incidents are under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On September 13, 2016 Millburn Police Officer Manuyag stopped a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee for parking in a handicap parking space without a placard. The investigation led to the arrest of 20 year old Brian Gastelo-Martinez out of Newark for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. Mr. Gastelo-Martinez was released with a summons.

On September 13, 2016 Millburn Police Officer Lanni responded to the Chanel store at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report. Enroute to the store Officer Lanni stopped 27 year old Alyssa Asaytuno out of Clifton who matched the description of the suspect who committed the theft. The investigation led to the arrest of Ms. Asaytuno for shoplifting 1 item valued at $450.00. Ms. Asaytuno was charged with shoplifting and released with a summons.   

On September 15, 2016 Millburn Police Officer Manuyag stopped a 2011 Honda Civic on Rt 124/Farley Place after observing the vehicle go through a red light at Millburn/Rt 124. The investigation led to the arrest of the 26 year old passenger Andres Figueroa out of Union for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Figueroa was released with a summons. 

On September 15, 2016 Millburn Police Officer Recinos stopped a 1997 Toyota Corolla at Parkview/Whittingham for an obstructed view. The investigation led to the arrest of 51 year old Louis Therlonge out of West Orange for an outstanding traffic warrant out of Orange. Mr. Therlonge was issued for the obstructed view and released with a new court date.

On September 15, 2016 Millburn Police Officer Wichelns observed a 2007 Mazda CX7 driving erratically at the mall and then park in 2 spaces. The occupants then entered the mall. Officer Wichelns drove by the vehicle and detected an odor of burnt marijuana from the vehicle. The investigation led to the arrest of the 3 occupants who returned to the vehicle, 41 year old McNeil James out of Newark, 23 year old Chicquell Berry out of Newark, and 24 year old Kareemah Connor out of Orange for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. James and Ms. Connor were released with a summons. Mr. Berry was turned over to the Little Falls Police Department on an outstanding criminal warrant.

On September 16, 2016 Millburn Police units responded to Municipal Lot 7 on a report of an individual trying to gain entry to several vehicles. The description of the actor was broadcasted to units who located 36 year old George Brown out of Orange. Mr.Brown admitted to trying to enter vehicles to remove change for the train and was placed under arrest. Mr. Brown was charged with attempted burglary and released with a summons.

On September 19, 2016 Millburn Police Officer Royce stopped a 2012 Infiniti G37 on Rt 24 East for having an inoperable headlight. The investigation led to the arrest of the 26 year old driver Nikhil Tandon out of Livingston on an outstanding traffic warrant out of Newark. Mr. Tandon was issued  summonses for maintenance of lamps and suspended registration and released with a court date.
