TAPinto Millburn/Short Hills has experienced significant growth since starting in 2012. In that first year, TAP averaged 4,269 page views on our news site each month. In 2017, TAP averaged 30,495 page views per month. News subscriptions have also seen exponential increases from about 400 in 2012 to nearly 3,000 today.
Social media continues to play a significant role in our growth, as articles and event news account for nearly 43,000 reaches on Facebook per month. The number of followers has increased 250% since 2015 to nearly 2,900 today.
The success of TAPinto Millburn/Short Hills has provided the opportunity for us to support the outstanding efforts of Millburn Township based nonprofit organizations over the years. TAP has contributed financial donations and publicity to many local organizations such as; Paper Mill Playhouse, Millburn Police Benevolent Association, Millburn Fireman’s Welfare Association, M/SH Volunteer First Aid Squad, Down The Block, M/SH Chamber of Commerce, Farm and Fork Society, Millburn Free Public Library, Opportunity Project, Millburn Township Public Schools, as well as several other deserving organizations.
Digital news is quickly becoming the standard, replacing paper based news organizations. The number of Americans getting news from digital sources is increasing, particularly among young adults between 18-34. According to the Pew Research Center, 65% of adults now get their news from a mobile device or a desktop. 67% of adults get some form of news from social media. Digital news is current, convenient and environmentally friendly.
