MILLBURN, NJ- The Parent-Teacher Organization of South Mountain Elementary School in Millburn held their third annual Wine, Dine, Give fundraiser at the Orange Lawn Tennis Club Saturday night.

In an effort to raise money for the school, the event was open to residents, parents and staff. There were 88 silent auction items, 20 raffle baskets and numerous teacher/staff experiences in which bidders could win "Principal for the Day" or "Teacher for the Day."

Co-chair of the event, Jennifer Rosenblatt, said that the fundraiser is important to the school because it is beneficial to students.

“Every student will benefit from the proceeds from tonight,” Rosenblatt said. “The proceeds help fund things such as school trips, new technology and mini grants for teachers to help further their students’ learning experience.”

Rosenblatt added that she was very happy with the turnout and that over 160 people were in attendance.

“We feel really fortunate that the community participated in this event, from people who attended, to the amazing support of the local businesses for the prizes,” Rosenblatt said.

To tie in to the community theme, local band Enough Said rocked the night away. Lead singers Maryellen and Craig Justice are also parents of children who attend South Mountain.

Like many other staff members who came to support the fundraiser, Principal Scott Wolfe and his wife were also in attendance.

“I think the event is exceptional. To be able to put something together like this to raise thousands for the kids is fantastic,” Wolfe said.

Wolfe explained that aside from raising money for the school, his favorite part of the night is getting to know and see parents and staff on a different level.

“I love seeing people in a social aspect as opposed to the usual principal, parent interaction,” Wolfe said.

He told The Alternative Press that the PTO did a “tremendous” job putting the event together and he was hoping to walk away with a sports or travel-related prize.
