MILLBURN, NJ – Genius Gems, a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)-based learn and play space, is thrilled to announce the opening of their first location in Millburn, New Jersey (215 Millburn Avenue) on June 3rd. At Genius Gems, children ages 2-12 years and adults alike will have the opportunity to experience a mix of STEM-based activities and classes, including: design challenges, competitions, team-based games and creative play.

The over 5,000 square foot space offers a safe and clean environment with free WiFi, grab-and-go snacks and beverages for purchase as well as a shop featuring carefully curated STEM based products for retail sale.  A parents’ lounge allows for relaxation while children participate in classes.

“We started Genius Gems because we believe that introducing STEM-based learning to children early on will prepare them for the careers of the future,” says Jennifer Romanoff, Ed.M. and Founder & CEO. “We are so excited to bring this one-of-a-kind social learning experience to the families of Millburn and the surrounding community.”

In 2013, the idea for Genius Gems was born in Mrs. Romanoff’s New York City apartment as she watched her husband and sons build with magnetic tiles.  “I jokingly reminded my husband that he would be late for work again if he didn’t stop building – that is, unless he wanted to quit his job and play with magnetic tiles instead! We both had a good laugh, and here we are today bringing our dream to reality.”

Genius Gems will offer unique and engaging STEM classes and field trips designed by experienced educators with topics including Little Engineers, Robotics, LED Lights and Circuits, Girls Who Invent and Arts/Architecture.  In addition, Genius Gems will host special events for the holidays and cultural celebrations, drop in and play, birthday parties, girls’ nights out, Dads’ Build-a-Thons, Mom’s Meet Ups, PTA Fundraisers and Corporate Events.
