SHORT HILLS, NJ - The SAM Program (Students After-school in Millburn) is a nonprofit, after school enrichment and child care program providing a nurturing and safe environment for Millburn Township’s kindergarten through middle school-aged children.
The program provides transportation from township schools (Millburn Middle School, Wyoming, South Mountain, Hartshorn, Deerfield) to Glenwood Elementary School in Short Hills. Upon arrival, a director, certified teachers and teacher assistants, greet students. There is approximately one adult for every 5-8 students.
Students can choose from a wide variety of activities like chess, gym, computer lab, outdoor field play and science or play board games and do homework, all under the supervision of certified educators. There’s also tutoring available provided by Millburn High School students in a variety of subjects. Students are also offered nutritious snacks that include fruit, crackers, milk, pasta, and bread-based products, to name a few. Awareness food allergies and sensitivities are carefully monitored and no nut-based products are served.
The program also recognizes Millburn Township schools’ early dismissals, vacation and snow days and works with the school district to manage changes to students’ schedules.
Founded in 1995, S.A.M. is a nonprofit organization created from the collaboration of parents, teachers, Millburn PTOs and the Millburn Board of Education to assist parents in after school child care.
The program is flexible to meet the needs of both students and parents. Though the majority of the students are enrolled on a on-going basis, occasional and short term usage is available.
The S.A.M. Program invites Millburn Township parents to the Open House. This is an opportunity to meet the staff and teachers, discuss curriculum options and provide children to experience the program free of charge.
We invite you and your family to experience what Millburn families have enjoyed for nearly 25 years.
