Beginning Mindfulness Meditation Series at Millburn Library

The Millburn Free Public Library is welcoming in 2018 with mindfulness - specifically, a beginning mindfulness meditation series being held in January 2018. The program will run on the following Wednesdays: Jan 10, 17, 21, and 31, at 2:00pm in the auditorium. Please register for this 4 week course, because space is limited.

If you have a belief that your mind is "too busy" or that you are "just not good at meditating," this class is for you!

Join Mindfulness Facilitator Jean Vitrano for this 4 week series to learn how to practice mindfulness meditation. We will ease our way into learning how to stay in the present moment with whatever may arise by following our breathing. Without trying to stop our thinking, we can nurture our ability to create some space in our minds and bodies and to react less habitually to our thoughts and feelings. In this small group setting, there will be time to explore the issues that arise when meditating and the resistance to doing it. We will practice guided, silent and walking meditation. You will also learn practical mindfulness tools to use throughout the day. By committing to 4 weeks of practice together and to your own daily practice, you will be giving yourself the support of community, and of investing in yourself fully for a period of time so that you can see benefit of having a meditation practice.

Jean Vitrano has extensive experience working with the body and mind through years of training in contemporary dance, therapeutic massage, movement awareness, meditation and yoga. For the past 20 years, she has practiced mindfulness meditation and has enjoyed sharing the practice with others by leading weekly mindfulness groups and workshops. Jean also teaches workshops on managing stress by combining meditation and everyday mindfulness practices to manage our reactions to stress and to strengthen the pathways to happiness. She holds a BA from NYU, has been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2002, and graduated from the Feldenkrais Method Training Program in 2011.

The program is free to all and is appropriate for adults. However, we do request that you register, as space is limited. Our programs are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Millburn Library.
