One River School of Art + Design Summer Camp (August 6 - August 10)

Street Art Painting | 3rd - 5th Grade | 9:30 - 12

The recent street-art movement marked by artists like Banksy has placed graffiti on the map and grown to be an accepted creative outlet. In this course young students will study graffiti as a base for making their own street-art paintings. Students will work on large-scale wood panels using acrylic spray paint.  

 

Drawing Monsters | k - 2nd Grade | 12:30 - 3

Create wildly imaginative creatures with horns, claws, tails, and more. Students explore their innovation and creativity through original monster creations, while further developing drawing skills, as well as color theory. This class will be a platform for students to expand their visionary thinking through art making processes.

 

Blacklight Painting | 6th - 12th Grade | 9:30 - 12

Explore this new method of making and viewing paintings through black light paints, creating fluorescent, glow-in-the-dark effects! Create imaginative and fantastical paintings exploring color theory and composition with a special effects finish.

 

Portfolio Development | 10th - 12th Grade | 12:30 - 5:30 (2 week course)

Our Portfolio Development program is an intensive 2 week course for high school students who are serious about art, and are looking to concentrate in this field at the college and university level. This course will guide students in creating a comprehensive portfolio that showcases their skills and creativity to secure their acceptance to college art programs.

 

Photo Editing | 6th - 12th Grade | 9:30 - 12

Whether you want to restore old photographs, create special effects or enhance your current photographs, this course provides you with all the Adobe Photoshop tools to create spectacular photos.

 

Documentary Filmmaking | 6th - 12th Grade | 12:30 - 3

This intensive course will allow students to immerse themselves in all aspects of film concept, production and editing. Students will work in small groups to create a documentary for which they will develop a narrative, arrange interviews and shoot footage. Students will bring their work into the digital studio where they will edit their documentaries for a final short film.

National Weather Service Issues Heat Advisory thru Sunday for Millburn Township

MILLBURN, NJ —  A heat wave rolling into the area is expected to last through Sunday, with the National Weather Service (NWS) calling for a heat advisory for Millburn Township through 12:00 pm Sunday. However, an excessive heat watch runs through Monday evening.

Millburn Police Issue Multiple Summons Based on Outstanding Warrants

On July 11, 2018 Millburn Police Officer Shanahan stopped a 2014 Honda Accord on Millburn/Vauxhall for speeding. The investigation led to the arrest of 22 year old Lyes Yakoubi of Jersey City on an outstanding traffic warrant out of West Windsor. Mr. Yakoubi was issued a summons and released with a new court date.
