One River School of Art + Design Summer Camp (June 25 - June 29)

Musically Inspired Painting | 3rd - 5th Grade | 9:30 - 12

Throughout the history of art, music has played an important role in artistic styles and movements.  In this course students will create their own paintings that directly relate to a certain piece of music that inspires them. Instructors will explore painting techniques of color mixing, glazing and creating textural surfaces by modifying the paint properties.

 

Dino Sculpting | K - 2nd Grade | 12:30 - 3

Students will examine different types of dinosaurs to create their own 3-dimensional rendition - focusing on scale, proportion and texture. From high and low relief sculpture to free standing sculpture in the round, students will learn the diverse styles and methods of working with the versatile medium of clay. Through the processes of experimenting and working with clay, students will learn fundamental sculpting techniques, and demonstrate their understanding of three-dimensional art making.

 

Manga & Anime | 6th - 12th Grade | 9:30 - 12

Manga comics have a long history in Japanese art, and in the following years became increasingly popular worldwide. Their highly stylized characteristics and engaging storylines have become a cultural phenomenon. Students will work in a variety of media to create their own interpretations of manga characters and comics demonstrating their technical drawing skills as well as their creativity and imagination.

 

Painting on Glass | 6th - 12th Grade | 12:30 - 3

Explore the range of artistic results when painting on glass surfaces. Students will learn how to respond to its smooth texture to create realistic and abstract artworks while also dealing with transparency and opacity.


Learn Your Camera | 6th - 12th Grade | 9:30 - 12

This course introduces beginners to the creative and technical principles of digital photography through intensive practice in shooting images and manipulating your camera.  Students will explore manual and automatic functions and learn to create compelling images by controlling settings, lighting, composition and exposure. Projects will include shooting portraits, figures, still lives and landscapes in different settings, lighting and conditions to produce a body of work that showcases a variety of themes.

 

Fashion Design | 6th - 12th Grade | 12:30 - 3

Students learn the fundamental techniques specific to fashion design, using Adobe Photoshop. The group will explore contemporary fashion design principles while developing their own branded style to target specific customers and categories.  The course will culminate with each student having produced an illustration portfolio that is unique to his or her brand.

National Weather Service Issues Heat Advisory thru Sunday for Millburn Township

MILLBURN, NJ —  A heat wave rolling into the area is expected to last through Sunday, with the National Weather Service (NWS) calling for a heat advisory for Millburn Township through 12:00 pm Sunday. However, an excessive heat watch runs through Monday evening.

Millburn Police Issue Multiple Summons Based on Outstanding Warrants

On July 11, 2018 Millburn Police Officer Shanahan stopped a 2014 Honda Accord on Millburn/Vauxhall for speeding. The investigation led to the arrest of 22 year old Lyes Yakoubi of Jersey City on an outstanding traffic warrant out of West Windsor. Mr. Yakoubi was issued a summons and released with a new court date.
