MILLBURN, NJ — As students left Millburn High School yesterday afternoon, they were met by a row of food trucks parked on the front lawn.
It was all part of the inaugural "Lunch on the Lawn" which was a fundraiser for the class of 2020's Senior Celebration. Attendees could choose from a variety of options, including burgers, gyros, wings and mini donuts.
With former Millburn students also coming back from college for the holiday, it was also a chance for people to catch up, reunite and talk about what they both missed.
For Ellen Serruto, who co-chaired the event, the turnout was something she was happy with. Serruto's son Jamie is a member of the class of 2020, who was also recently elected to the Millburn School Board for a one-year term.
As Serruto said, she hopes the event will become a focal point on the town's calendar for many years to come.
"This is our first year," Serruto said. "We hope it becomes an annual event, a homecoming for our community. And that includes all the schools, staff, the whole community is invited to come here and gather, and enjoy the food and the company."
