MILLBURN, NJ - As National Night Out draws closer, the Millburn Township Committee took the time to award a proclamation encouraging support for the event.

Event organizer Crystal Woods was on hand to receive the proclamation from the town. She was joined by Ed de la Fuente, a detective in the Millburn Police Department.

The proclamation noted that national night out, taking place on Aug. 6 this year provides an opportunity for neighbors in Millburn Township to join in with the more than 16,000 communities that also participate.

Additionally, the town noted that the national night out is an event that promotes, "police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie," in order to make neighborhoods a safer place to live.

The proclamation noted that town residents were needed, and urged interested citizens to join with the town watch association and the police department for National Night Out.

After receiving the proclamation, Woods gave a short speech before the committee, thanking them for their support of the event.
