MILLBURN, NJ - When students return this fall to Wyoming Elementary School in Millburn, they will have a new art project to enjoy.

A group of Millburn High School students, made up of members Betty Zheng, Natalie Ho, Michelle Qiu and Annie Tan worked to paint the inspirational sayings in the bathrooms around the school.

“The look of a school has a real impact on mood, motivation, and behavior,” said principal Kristin Mueller when discussing the reason for the project. As a result, Mueller said it was important for the students to get a dose of inspiration, even when they had to go to the bathroom.

The project dovetailed with Leader in Me, a school-improvement undertaking that Mueller introduced last year. The aim of the project is to empower students with leadership and life skills.

According to a release rom the school district, many of the quotes were designed to help students see themselves as future leaders, such as the one painted by Zheng in the boys’ bathroom on the top floor that reads: 'All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.'

As for Mueller, she expressed her excitement about the completion of the project.

“The artists did an amazing job,” Mueller said. “I can’t wait to see the reaction of our students.”
