MILLBURN, NJ — After being selected as finalists earlier this academic year, two Millburn High School students and one Newark Academy student who lives in Millburn were named among the many winners in a nationwide scholarship competition.

Amanda Huang, Ethan Zhang and Warren Sunada-Wong are among the students chosen as one of the National Merit Scholarship winners nationwide. Each student received a scholarship worth $2,500 from the National Merit Scholarship Committee (NMSC) for their selection.

Huang was identified in the release as going into the field of law as a probable career, while Zhang was categorized under biology. Sunada-Wong was categorized under computer science. All three winners had their scholarships covered directly by the NMSC's funds.

According to the release from the NMSC, National Merit $2500 Scholarship winners are the finalists in each state judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies. The number of winners named in each state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the nation’s graduating high school seniors.
