MILLBURN, NJ — While the Millburn Schools Rock event will not be going this weekend as planned, the Millburn Education Foundation (MEF) is still raising money for school programs through its silent auction, which will be going live today at noon.
According to a press release sent out by the MEF, the online silent auction will open as scheduled on Friday, March 13. The virtual auction will be open from 12:00 p.m. until 10:15 p.m.
Organizers are hopeful that the auction will help the MEF raise enough funds to fulfill the creative and innovative grant applications submitted by Millburn teachers.
“While this was a tough call to make,” said MEF co-chair Abby Speltz, “we felt it was the best decision for our community. Millburn Schools Rock is our biggest fundraiser of the year, but it is not more important than the safety of our friends and neighbors. We hope that everyone will still support our efforts and participate in our auction at bidpal.net/msr20 from the comfort of their homes.”
The online silent auction has a number of packages, donated in large part by local businesses.
“We are so grateful for the support from families, businesses, and the district," said Sharyn Stein, Millburn Education Foundation’s co-chair. "Without their continued generosity we would not be able to fund over $150,000 per year in grants to enhance the education of our Millburn students.”
