MILLBURN, NJ - As part of the regularly scheduled township committee meeting, the Millburn Township Committee proceeeded to work through several orders of business on the agenda. The highlights from the meeting are below:


Two proclamations were read into the record at the meeting. The first was for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which reaffirmed the township's commitment to improving victim safety and holding perpetrators accountable.

The second proclamation was for Red Ribbon Week, in which the township encouraged citizens to make a visible public push in support of a drug-free community. Millburn municipal Alliance Committee member Heather jenquine was on hand to receive the proclamation.


As part of the celebration of the holiday of Diwali, the Millburn Short Hills Desi Club holds an annual celebration in Taylor Park. As part of the celebration, being held this year on Oct. 27, the group applied for a permit for fireworks, which was approved.

The fireworks will be used by the Desi Club only on the specified date, and in compliance with regulations from various state and town organizations.


The roof of the police station will soon be repaired, with bids being accepted beforehand and announced at the meeting.

With a bid of $1,739,000, Preferred Mechanical, Inc. out of Keyport, NJ will undertake the project. The accepted bid was more than $100,000 cheaper than the second cheapest bid.
