MILLBURN, NJ - According to a post on the Millburn Township Website, Spotted Lanternflies have recently been spotted near the township in Mercer, Hunterdon and Warren counties.
A plant hopper insect native to parts of Asia, the lanternfly is an invasive species that feeds on over 70 types of plants and can cause damage to the hosts as well as agricultural crops.
Millburn residents and others in the state are asked to be on alert for lanternfly sightings and to use caution when traveling to and from counties with known infestations.
