NEWARK, NJ — The New Jersey Devils and RWJBarnabas Health, the team’s official healthcare partner, have teamed up once again to host their third annual blood drive in coordination with the American Red Cross. On March 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Newark’s Prudential Center, the Devils and RWJBarnabas will aim to collect 500 units of blood.
All participating donors will receive a voucher for two free tickets to a select Devils 2018-19 season home game, a limited-edition New Jersey Devils blood donor T-shirt provided by Fusion, and chances to win autographed Devils merchandise.
In addition, donors will have the opportunity to meet New Jersey Devils alumni Grant Marshall and Bruce Driver, as well as popular mascot NJ Devil, who will be available for photos and autographs. Free parking is available in the Parking Deck presented by Ford.
“We have the honor and responsibility, as an important member of the New Jersey community, to create positive change and support those in the communities where our fans live, work and play,” said Jeff Scott, vice president of community investment and grassroots with the NJ Devils and Prudential Center. “Partnering with RWJBarnabas Health and the Red Cross each year to host and support this meaningful event is one of the most impactful days on our calendar.”
Sally Wells, Blood Services Business Development Liaison at RWJUH in New Brunswick, added that as the need for blood among RWJBarnabas Health patients continues to increase, blood donors have the opportunity to make the ultimate difference and save a life.”
The blood drive is open to the general public. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins will also be accepted as space is available.
All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are above 17 years of age (or 16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.
