Prosecutor Identifies Woman Found Dead on Route 22 Median

SOMERVILLE, NJ - Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson has identified the dead woman found on the Route 22 center median near Route 28 in Branchburg Wednesday afternoon as 29-year-old Ashley M. Castro of Hopatcong.

Detectives are continuing their investigation, according to Robertson. The cause and manner of death is pending further investigation by the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Newark. 

Robertson offered his condolences to the woman's family and friends on behalf of the entire law enforcement community.

Robertson said that detectives are working tirelessly to gather facts surrounding Castro's death and is asking the public’s help in establishing her recent whereabouts.
