NEW BRUNSWICK - For the second time in less than a week, a Rutgers University student has been found dead outside a dorm.
Kyle Gotchel, a sophomore business major, was found outside Hardenbergh Hall on Monday, university officials said in a statement today.
“I am saddened to share the news that our student, Kyle Gotchel, died yesterday,” Chancellor Deb Dutta said in a message sent to the university’s Nw Brunswick community.
“Kyle was a sophomore finance major at the Rutgers Business School, a member of the Quantitative Finance Club, and actively involved in the Greek Life community,” Dutta said.
No other details were given about the student’s death.
In a statement, the university extended “its sincerest condolences to Kyle’s family and friends.”
The six-floor Hardenbergh Hall is one of the university’s River Dorms, overlooking the Raritan River.
On Friday, graduate student Akash S. Taeja was found dead on the Busch campus in Piscataway. Foul play is not suspected in either case, according to officials.
