MILLBURN, NJ — At a private ceremony yesterday afternoon, three new probationary firefighters were sworn in to begin their work with the Millburn Fire Department.

Brandon Densmore, Victor Carvajal and Amber Lueddeke will all serve in the department when their training is through.

Densmore was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and raised in Lakewood, New Jersey. He attended the Lakewood High School, graduating in 2008. He currently lives in Colonia, New Jersey. After graduation, Densmore enlisted in the Marine Corps and attained the rank of Sergeant in Aviation Ordnance.

While deployed, he was in Afghanistan to support the efforts of Operation Enduring Freedom. Densmore served honorably for 4 years. After his enlistment he decided to continue his education at Union County College and acquired his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts in 2019.

Probationary Firefighter Densmore will be assigned to the Morris County Fire Academy for the next three months.

Carvajal was born in Buenaventura, Colombia and raised in Winfield Park, N.J. Carvajal attended David Brearley in Kenilworth, N.J. and graduated in 2010. He currently resides in Elizabeth, N.J. 

In 2015, Carvajal enlisted in to the Navy Reserves. In 2017 he graduated from the Union County Fire Academy as the top graduate and served as a volunteer Firefighter before being deployed to the Horn of Africa with the Navy Reserves the following year. During his deployment he earned the honor of becoming an Expeditionary Warfare Specialist. He has achieved the rank of E5.

After his enlistment he decided to continue his education at Union County College where he is currently studying Liberal Arts. Probationary Firefighter Carvajal will be assigned to the Training Division for the next three months.

Lueddeke was born in Somerset, New Jersey. Amber grew up the second oldest of 5 siblings in Kenilworth, NJ. She attended David Brearley High School where she played basketball and softball throughout her four years. Graduating in 2012, Amber went on to obtain her Associates Degree in Fire Science through the Community College of the Air Force.

In 2012, Lueddeke enlisted in the Air National Guard out of High School and is currently in her eighth year as a firefighter with the 177th Fighter Wing out of Atlantic City, NJ.

She was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in 2016 which she still holds today. In 2017, Lueddeke was deployed to Abu Dhabi for 6 months. She was perviously a volunteer for the Kenilworth Fire Department from 2014 until 2017 and as an EMT for the Elizabeth Fire Department for almost four years. 

Probationary Firefighter Lueddeke will be assigned to the Training Division for the next three months.
