MILLBURN, NJ - According to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Millburn Police Chief Brian Gilfedder, the victim from a house fire earlier this month at 24 Norwood Terrace has been identified.

Justine Rizek, of Millburn, was the one victim of the fire on June 5, which according to investigators started at around 5:00 p.m. Rizek was found in a second-floor bedroom in the house.

After being evacuated from the house, Rizek was transferred to St. Barnabas where she was pronounced dead. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and had not yet been determined as of press time, but the preliminary evidence suggests it was accidental, according to officials.

There was a delay in formally identifying Rizek because she lived alone. As a result, it took time for the county prosecutor to reach out and identify Rizek's next of kin.

Additionally, News 12 reported that a hoarding situation in the house made fighting the fire more difficult.
