MILLBURN, NJ - Next Monday, June 17 NJ Transit's weekday service adjustments will go into effect. They will be in place through Friday, Sept. 6. A number of Morris & Essex line trains will be impacted by service changes.

The changes are being made to accommodate Amtrak track repair and renewal at Penn Station New York. Temporary service adjustments will affect the Montclair-Boonton, New Jersey Coast and Morris & Essex lines.

Planned adjustments to the Morriss and Essex lines include Midtown Direct trains skipping Newark Broad Street station during the morning and evening peak periods. Additionally, a  limited number of Midtown Direct reverse-peak trains will be operating out of Hoboken.

As a result of operating with fewer tracks in New York Penn Station, some trains in and out of the station may be required to utilize shorter platforms and will be required to have fewer cars, according to NJ Transit. To make maximum use of the limited track space, the website announced that some trains currently operating with 10 cars will be reduced to nine cars.
