MILLBURN, NJ - Following an increase in reports concerning door-to-door canvassing, Millburn Township is recommending that interested residents register for the town's Do Not Knock list.

Residents who wish to add their name and address to the list can do so by registering at bit.ly/noknockmillburn. Additionally, once residents have registered they can visit the customer service desk in Town Hall to pick up a Do Not Knock decal. Residents must be registered in order to receive a decal.

Any and all canvassers in town must have proper licensing, which has been issued by the Township of Millburn, on hand when soliciting. Any and all licensed solicitors may not approach any residents on the Do Not Knock List.

Any solicitors who knowingly knock on the door of a house registered with the do not knock list and bearing the decal can be found in violation of Millburn Ordinance no. 2526-19 and may be subject to legal action.

In addition to joining the Do Not Knock list, Millburn Township advised residents who are concerned with the way they have been solicited to reach out directly to the companies in question and/or file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau or Division of Consumer Affairs.

As of press time, there is only one registered current permit holder for soliciting in Millburn Township, Aptive Environmental. The list may expand, but for now, their contact information is below:

  • Aptive Environmental
  • 19 State Route 10 E, Unit 24
  • Succasunna, NJ 07876
  • (862) 243-2343

Residents should also know that canvassing and solicitation regulations do not apply to political candidates, as well as any religious, charitable, civic, political, veteran or fraternal organization or association, service club, volunteer fire or first aid company.
