MILLBURN, NJ - In an open letter to the congregation of St. Rose of Lima Church, Cardinal Joseph Tobin, the Archbishop of Newark announced that a shift in leadership would be taking place at the church.

Tobin noted in his letter that the current pastor, father John McCrone will be accepting in his words, "greater responsibilities in the Archdiocese," which he feels would leave McCrone with an inadequate amount of time to tend to the parishioners.

As a result, McCrone will be leaving, to be replaced by Monsignor Robert Harahan. Harahan was ordained to the priesthood in 1974, and has currently been serving as the Headmaster of Seton Hall Preparatory School. According to Tobin, Harahan has earned a doctorate in Sacred Theology and can work in Spanish, French and Italian, as well as English.

Harahan will be starting in his position on Oct. 18.

"I ask you to receive Monsignor Harahan warmly, cooperating with him in every way," Tobin concluded at the end of his letter. "Continue to offer him your assistance as you have for pastors before him."
