MILLBURN, NJ - Ben Chrzanowski's line drive to center field scored Ben Pampush with the winning run with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning as second-seeded Millburn defeated seventh-seeded Newark Academy in the quarterfinal round of the Greater Newark Tournament on Thursday.
Millburn (11-7) will play third-seeded Livingston (13-3) in the semifinals Saturday at Verona High School at a time to be announced.
Chrzanowski gave Millburn a 2-0 lead with a two-run home run, but the score was tied, 3-3, with one out and a runner on third in the top of the fifth inning when Kyle Mazer came in to pitch in relief. Mazer escaped that situation without allowing the run to score, keeping the game tied.
Mazer earned the victory with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit relief.
Chrzanowski finished with three hits in four at-bats. Pampush was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jordan Brochin went 2-for-4 with a double for the Millers.
