JERSEY CITY, NJ — Playing for a berth in the final eight, the Millburn baseball team lost, 5-3, Thursday afternoon to Bergen Catholic in the statewide Last Dance Tournament at Caven Point.

Bergen Catholic (5-0) scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to erase a 3-2 deficit.

Millburn (4-1) took the early lead and had a 3-1 advantage going to the bottom of the fourth. Ben Chrzanowski gave the Millers a 1-0 lead with an RBI single to left in the first inning. Starting pitcher Dan Cifu held Bergen Catholic scoreless until the bottom of the third when the Crusaders tied it, 1-1. Bergen Catholic could have had more, but Millburn's Matt Chan made a spectacular inning-ending diving catch with the bases loaded to end that frame.

Chan beat out a fielder's choice grounder in the top of the fourth to knock in another run, giving Millburn a 2-1 lead. The Millers extended than lead to 3-1 when Ben Sinins reached on an infield error while a run crossed the plate.

Bergen Catholic scored a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth. Copeland Culp finished with three base hits for Millburn.
