Funding for the field will be provided through bond financing in the total amount of $870,000 dollars. Board Secretary Cheryl Schneider, who has worked closely on the project explained why a cross lease was necessary.

"We have a joint facilities committee," Schneider said. "We work closely with the township and the school district with all of our fields. The library field happens split between the town and the board of ed. And the town is looking to do renovations to put new turf surface on there.

"In order for them to do the financing for it, we have to have a lease agreement that basically is allowing them to use our part of the field and us to use theirs. So this is memorializing something that's been in place for a while, but is allowing them to move forward with the funding to do that work."

Along with the cross lease, the township also approved a contract with Athletic Fields of America to build the turf field at the meeting on Sept. 3.
