HAVERFORD, PA — Short Hills resident and Haverford College men's track & field senior co-captain James Barker has been named a member of the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team, according to a press release from the conference on Wednesday.
According to the release, the team features one student-athlete from each institution that sponsors the respective sport. The Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Teams recognize student-athletes who best exemplify the fundamental values of respect, fairness, civility, honesty, and responsibility both on and off the field or playing surface.
This is the second sportsmanship team honor for Barker, who also picked up the same award following the indoor track season in March.
Barker, a history major, is a Centennial Conference Honor Roll recipient in each season of eligibility for that award, and was named a second-team All-Centennial Conference honoree following the 2019 indoor season, as he was part of a 4x800 meter relay squad that finished second, earning silver medals at the conference meet in Lancaster.
The 7:59.7 time that squad clocked was the ninth-fastest in program history and just the fifth sub-eight minute showing this decade.
Away from the track, Barker, an Office Fellow at Haverford College's Office of Admissions, also serves as a senior interviewer as well as a Student Admissions Advisory Committee member.
