EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - There are many shining stars in the East Brunswick universe, but perhaps the brightest of those is the Daisy Recreation Program.  The intent of the Daisy Program is to create programs that challenge individuals who need assistance, encouragement, support, and modifications in activities.  Daisy wants to enable members of the community to enjoy leisure time activities, feel welcome to participate without fear of rejection and as needed, provide support, accommodations and modifications.

In support of Daisy, the 34th Annual Norma & Ralph Lamo Daisy Breakfast will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Hilton East Brunswick Hotel on Rt. 18, East Brunswick.

Bring your family, friends and neighbors to enjoy “the best breakfast buffet in town” featuring bacon, eggs, home fries, pancakes, rolls, pastries, fruit, juice, coffee, tea and milk. Tickets are $10 for adults and $2 for kids under 10 years of age. On hand will be DJ Mike Malone of Music N’ Motion with music, games and prizes.

Try your luck and win some great prizes donated by local merchants at the Tricky Tray or you may even win the Super 50-50 Raffle. This popular community event is run by volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year planning the breakfast.

On the day of the event, many more volunteers including the East Brunswick Youth Council are on hand to help prepare, serve and clean-up; sell the raffle tickets, distribute the prizes, and to do whatever else is needed to bring the event together. The success of the event is also dependent on the generosity of the many donations received to offset the costs. The Hilton East Brunswick Hotel donates their facility, personnel, and some of the food; the other food is donated by area merchants such as L’Affaire II Bake Shop; Lamo Builders, Inc.; Howard Teitelbaum, Esq.; Local PBA 145 and PBA 232; East Brunswick Youth Council; Austin Kosik Jr., Associates and several other businesses and organizations.

Proceeds from the breakfast benefit the children and adults with special needs who participate in the Daisy Recreation Program. The Daisy Recreation Program is sponsored by the East Brunswick Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services and The Daisy Association. Tickets are available at the Recreation & Parks office at 334 Dunhams Corner Road, East Brunswick and at the door. Please call 732-390-6797 for additional information.

The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn (William Morrow, 2018)

A friend, whose opinion on literature I respect greatly, reported to me recently that she had just finished reading A.J. Finn's debut novel, The Woman in the Window. Of it she said, “I wish I hadn't finished it,” which I interpreted to mean, “It was so good I'm sorry that I finished it.” ...
