SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Allison Clarke dropped 18 points and Jessica Addesso netted 14 to lead the Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team past Highland Park High School on Friday. The Chargers defeated the Owls 54-31. Spotswood dominated the first quarter of play, putting 25 points on the scoreboard to Highland Park's seven. The Chargers took a 33-19 lead into halftime.

Clarke was the player of the game with six rebounds, seven blocks, four assists and four steals. Julia Masucci added nine points for Spotswood while Cat Riley scored five. Giana Oelkers put up three and Jackie Gialanella, Kirti Craig and Ava Hellerich each chipped in two. Highland Park had double digit performances from Sofia Juliani and Sena Kaper-Dale. Juliani netted 13 and Kaper-Dale scored 10.

The victory stopped Spotswood's five game skid and improved their overall record to 5-6 and their Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division record to 3-4. Spotswood hosts Hamilton West High School on Saturday afternoon at the Spotswood High School Gymnasium. Hamilton West has lost its last three outings. Today is the first meeting between the two schools. Tip off is at 1 p.m.
