Appleby School's Supply List Available Online

SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Back-to-school sales are in full swing even though the calendar just switched to August. For parents wanting to take advantage of the savings, Appleby Elementary School's supply list is now available online. The second through fifth grade school recently posted the 2017-18 supply list under latest news on its website. Also available is the summer reading assignments for incoming fourth and fifth grade students.

Appleby students return to their classrooms along with the rest of the Spotswood School District on Thursday, September 7. Teachers and support staff resume work on Tuesday, September 5 for two days of in-service before the students arrive.

Appleby's longtime principal, Karen Boyle will be retiring as of September 1 and former Schoenly School Principal Nancy Torchiano will become the new Appleby principal. Torchiano's transfer was approved at the July 17 Spotswood Board of Education meeting. The longtime Spotswood School District teacher began her career as a math teacher at the Memorial Middle School in 2007 before moving to Appleby to teach fifth grade. Torchiano spent seven years working in the district's elementary schools prior to becoming the principal at Schoenly School two years ago.
