EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The East Brunswick Police announced today that an arrest has been made in the armed robbery that occurred on Thursday, October 15 behind the Pathmark Shopping Center.
Three individuals, one adult and two juveniles, were riding bicyles in that area on the evening of October 15 when they were approached by a male also riding a bicylce. The victims reported that they were shown what they throught was a gun in the suspect's waistband of his pants. The individual took all three of their cell phones and rode off in the direction of Route 18. After the incident, the victims went to a nearby friend's home and telephoned the East Brunswick police.
On Friday, the EB police requested the public's assistance and sought out information from people who may have been in the area at the time of the incident. Detectives John Breen, Dan Unkel and Michael Egan followed up on leads and compiled additional information from the victims as well as other witnesses that led to an arrest in the case.
Arizae Halley was arrested on Friday, October 16 and charged with three counts of first degree robbery. The 20-year-old East Brunswick male was transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in New Brunswick. His bail was set at $100,000.
According to an advisory issued on local.nixle.com by the East Brunswick Police Department, Halley was stopped by officers in the area on the night of the incident. However, at that time, police did not have sufficient "information to detain him."
