CARTERET, NJ - Mary Beth Barnosky led the Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team with 21 points as the Chargers beat Carteret 51-36 for their second straight win.
The Chargers held an eight point lead over the Ramblers at the half and each team netted eight points in the third quarter. However, the Chargers prevailed with a 15 point fourth quarter to nail down the win.
Erin Malin had a strong perfomance on the court as well, scoring 12 points for Spotswood. Courtney Potter was another top point-getter with nine. Grace Mehr chipped in three while Maria Izzo added four and Olivia Hellerich notched two.
Airelys Lopez was the top scorer for the Ramblers, netting 23 points.
The win moves the Chargers' overall record to 2-0 and 1-0 in conference play. They will look to continue their winning ways in 2016 when the take on Dunellen on January 2 for an 11:30 a.m. home game.
