EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Following an effective campaign as part of a full-slate movement, Democrat Dr. Brad Cohen has been elected Mayor of East Brunswick tonight.  Cohen defeated Republican James Wendell, garnering 9,302 votes to 8,255 for the challenger.

Joining Cohen as members of the Township Council are Dr. Michael Spadafino who was re-elected with 29% of the vote, and Sterley Stanley who earned 26%.  They surpassed Mark Csizmar and Jane Mueller who each earned 23%.  

Elected to the East Brunswick Board of Education were Liwu Hong (25%,) Robert Cancro (23%,) and Chad Seyler with 20%.  Barbara Reiss was also re-elected as a member of the BOE. Curt Philpczak (14%,) David Cukor (9%,) and Gary Panchal (8%) were unsuccessful in their bids for election.

Democrats in county, assembly, and legislative candidates were elected in a sweep of positions in Middlesex County.

As did the state as a whole, Middlesex County strongly supported Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton (59%) over Republican nominee Donald Trump who earned 37% of the vote.
