SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Cub Scout Pack 35 will be collecting socks at the borough's annual Memorial Day Parade on May 27 at 2 p.m. for Warm Feet for Warriors. Socks are actually the most requested item for deployed servicemen and women, which is how the Warm Feet for Warriors project came to be.
Cub Scout Pack 35 is joining the sock collection drive that began in February and runs through May 31. All of the socks collected will be distributed by Soldiers' Angels to veterans at VA hospitals nationwide as well as to active servicemen and women. Any type of men or women's sock styles and sizes are welcome.
Soldiers' Angels held the organization's first Warm Feet for Warriors campaign in 2017 and collected more than 8,000 socks. Last year's drive netted just over 14,000 pairs of socks for vets and active millitary servicemen and women. The goal for 2019 is 15,000.
Cub Scout Pack 35 will be doing their part during Monday's Memorial Day Parade, collecting as the members walk along the parade route. The scouts are asking parade goers to bring socks to help this year's Warm Feet for Warriors project.
