SPOTSWOOD, NJ - While some New Jersey towns have put trick or treating on the shelf, Spotswood Mayor Ed Seely has not though the Spotswood Police Department announced a 9 p.m. curfew for Mischief Night on Friday and for Halloween on Saturday. The Spotswood Police Department also offered some safety suggestions for trick or treaters and borough residents on the department's Facebook page. Suggestions from the SPD include:

- Wearing gloves
- Washing hands as much as possible
- Avoid hosting or attending large parties
