SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Downed power wires are again causing an issue in the borough on Sunday, July 29. Manalapan Road between John Street and Snowhill Street is closed this morning and residents should plan on an alternate route while repairs are being done. The Spotswood Police Department released a Nixle advisory this morning alerting residents to the closures.
Earlier this week, Main Street needed to be closed at the Summerhil Road intersection due to downed power lines because of a tractor trailer incident at the parking lot of the former D&A Auto Parts. The accident caused power outages and snarled traffic on July 26 and the area was closed throughout the overnight while repairs were completed.
The former D&A parking lot is now considered off-limits for parking without the permission of the property's owner according to a Facebook post by the Spotswood Police Department. Individuals who park in the space without the owner's permission will be issued a summons. Traffic cones have been placed in front of the driveway to discourage people from pulling in. The SPD also reported that the wires have been raised by Verizon to avoid similar issues in the future.
