EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - On Tuesday January 26, 2016 at approximately 8:53 am, patrol units responded to the area of Arthur Street on a report of a suspicious person in a van attempting to talk to a 13-year-old female.
According to a report issued by the East Brunswick Polic Department, the 13 year old female was walking in the roadway on her way to the school bus stop when a burgundy work style van pulled alongside of her. The driver opened the passenger door and tried to talk to the juvenile. The juvenile then ran home to her mother, say police.
The driver of the van was described as a white or Hispanic male in his 40’s with a short stubble beard. The description of the individual and his vehicle were broadcasted to surrounding towns. A vehicle matching the description was stopped by South River PD, but it turned out not to be the suspect vehicle. Further search for the vehicle provided no result, say police.
The East Brunswick Police Department asks parents to remind their children to use caution when approached by any stranger, no matter how innocent the person appears.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Crispin Farrace of the East Brunswick Police Department’s Investigative Bureau at 732-390-6990.
