The East Brunswick Community Preparedness & Awareness Event is free to local residents
interested in planning for major life events and becoming more self-sufficient during natural
disasters and other emergencies. The event will take place Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. until
2:00 p.m. at 303 Dunhams Corner Road in East Brunswick, sponsored by the East Brunswick
Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Information booths and presentations, food and giveaways, and children’s activities will be
offered to the public free of charge. Representatives will be on hand from the National Guard,
East Brunswick Rescue Squad, Office of Emergency Management, the Department of Aging,
AARP, and AT&T, among others. See Eventbrite.com for more information (search “East
Brunswick Preparedness”).

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sponsors the Helping Hands community service
initiative, which will be represented at the event. “Helping Hands” organized waves of
volunteers during the Hurricane Sandy recovery effort. The Church also provides hygiene kits,
tents, clothing, and other supplies to disaster victims worldwide. At the local level, Church
members participate in personal and family preparedness planning efforts.
