Edison: Police, Firefighters Find Body At Route 1 Bridge Base

EDISON, NJ – Firefighters made a gruesome discovery after responding to a small fire Sunday morning, an unidentified male body, police said.

According to police, the man’s body was discovered at 6:13 a.m. Sunday morning below the Morris Goodkind Bridge, which carries Route 1 over the Raritan River.

Firefighters were dispatched to the Valley Manor apartment complex for as small fire, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Spokesman James O’Neill.

In a press release Sunday afternoon, O’Neill said the man’s body was discovered outside the apartment complex after the small fire was extinguished.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:50 a.m., O’Neill said.

Police said they are investigating the man’s identity, but do not believe the death to be suspicious.

The investigation is active and is continuing.
