SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team defeated rival South River High School on Wednesday, January 17, 48-28. The Chargers kept the Rams off the scoreboard in the first quarter and held the team to only 14 in the final eight minutes of the game to improve their overall record to 9-4.

Erin Malin and Courtney Potter both netted 14 points in the victory. Malin grabbed 15 rebounds to earn the double-double. The senior also had six blocks and six steals. Savannah Robinson scored 11 for Spotswood while Jessica Addesso chipped in five. Paige Dadika pulled down five rebounds. Tara Beachem was the games top scorer. Beachem scored the majority of the points for the Rams, netting 21.

With the victory over their division rival, Spotswood's conference record moves to 7-1. The team is currently second in the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division behind Middlesex High School. Middlesex remains undefeated in both division and overall play this season.

Spotswood will have a few practice days before heading to Piscataway on January 24 to take on Mother Seton Regional High School at 6 p.m.
