SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Water Department will begin the annual fall process of flushing and test fire hydrants in the borough on Monday, September 21. The project will move through the borough and is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 2. Flushing and testing hours will be 9:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. Residents may notice low water pressure and discoloration when the hydrants are being flushed in their neighborhoods.
According to information posted by the Spotswood Water Department, the discoloration is not harmful. The Spotswood Water Department does not advise doing laundry during flushing hours. If the discoloration does not improve withing a few hours, the Water Department suggests running cold water to clear the line.
