HELMETTA, NJ - Many area residents got the opportunity to cross an item off of their bucket list this week after experiencing a tethered hot air balloon ride courtesy of Care One at East Brunswick Assisted Living and the Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home. The June 30 fundraiser was the brainchild of Care One East Brunswick Senior Administrator Christopher Slavicek. Slavicek is also the mayor of Helmetta where the tethered rides took place. Each ride was $15 with the proceeds bring donated to Alzheimer's New Jersey.  Alzheimer's New Jersey assists people and families impacted by Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

Participants received the tethered balloon ride, soaring about Helmetta's picturesque Lake Park and an ice cream. The fundraiser raised more than $3,000 for Alzheimer's New Jersey. Spotswood resident Rose Marie Aiello enjoyed the early evening balloon ride along with her three children. The cause was one that was dear to her heart.

"My grandmother suffered from Alzheimer's," Aiello said. "Knowing first hand how the disease impacts both the patients and caregivers, I wanted to support such a great fundraiser in our area."

"Our family truly enjoyed this unique experience while helping to raise money for such a worthwhile cause," Aiello added.
